The Giants of Morvah

Tom, a giant, was making his way home when he found the road blocked by a hedge of stone, so he cut across another giant's land. The giant stopped him and became furious at him and attacked him. Tom fought him off and eventually killed him. And so he took possession of the giant's castle and land.

He and a woman he had been courting, Joan, found the giant's castle filled with treasures. Over the years he strengthened his own walls to protect his treasure.

One day there was a hammering on the gate. It was a travelling tinker, as large as Tom himself, who was making his way along the road over Tom's hedges.

Tom became furious like the previous owner of the castle had and attacked the tinker. Using his staff he defeated Tom in several dizzying moves.

After this they became fast friends and he taught Tom many tricks.

Jack stayed the night and then the next and the next until he decided to stay forever, eventually marrying Tom and Joan's daughter on the first day of August.

Every year on the first of August their relations would gather to celebrate the anniversary, so many relations that the gathering became a fair, known as the Morvah fair.
